Carpenter Street Cafe is a newly open Sarawakian Restaurant specializes in Chinese cuisine and local delights, especially authentic Sarawak foods.
I was wondering the name of Carpenter Street Cafe until I found it out through Google, it's named after a famous Chinatown street in Kuching Sarawak.
It features air conditioning and situated at Bayan Baru, Penang, Malaysia.
Casper wanted to go for Secret Recipe again, but on the way walking to Secret, I noticed a new cafe which it looks quite familiar to me, then I found out it is a Sarawakian restaurant, it reminds me I saw someone posted it's photos on Facebook recently.
So, what makes Sawarakian food different? I guess one of it would be this-Kolomee. I've ever tried for kolomee once, got it from my Sawarakian coursemate a year ago. The first time I tasted it, the first impression is tastes like wantan mee. It is totally different for me when I taste here, truthfully a kolomee taste (not taste like wantan mee anymore), LOL
3 layer teh C (RM4.50)
Love it indeed, but the first taste of it, may makes you feel a bit unacceptable, do believe me, you will love it indeed like me :-)
Local Delights-XO Fried Rice XO炒饭 (RM6.90)
Sarawak Kolomee 沙劳越哥罗面 (RM5.90)
Sarawak Kolomee is a signature dish in Sarawak. It is dried noodle with mince meat, char siew, fried red onion and vegetable. For me, it is a must try of authentic taste of Sarawak as I always heard my Sarawakian friend was keep on promoting Sarawak Kolomee and wanted to eat it in West Malaysia. It is available in either dried (kolo), red (char siew oil) or soup flavor, and I chose dried flavor.
Sarawak laksa 沙劳越拉沙 (RM7.90)
What I saw from the menu, Sarawak Laksa is a unique Sarawakian breakfast dish of rice vermicelli in a fragnant soup, topped with juicy prawns, tender chicken slides, bean sprout and omelette slides served with squeeze of lime and fiery sambal belacan. It is available in either meehoon (vermicelli), kolomee or mix version.
